CHILD ABUSE
CrescentaValleyAdventistSchool is bound by Federal Law to report any suspected or reported case of child abuse. In the event that a teacher or administrator has reason to suspect a case of child abuse, the following steps will be taken in the appropriate order: · A report will be made to either a Law Enforcement Agency or the Child Protective Services.
· If the accused is not a family member, the parents or guardian is to be contacted immediately following notification to the authorities. No information is to be disclosed to the parents other than the name and location of the agency handling the case.
· If the accused is a family member, the authorities will be requested to notify the parents.
· Teachers/administrators are not to speak with anyone regarding the case, allowing the authorities to convey all necessary information as they deem appropriate
· If the authorities take the child immediately to their headquarters, the principal or staff designee shall accompany the child so as to minimize the trauma.
· The law requires that a written report be made to the authority contacted within 36 hours.
These guidelines have been set by the Southern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and CrescentaValleyAdventistSchool supports all efforts to end child abuse.
The school will not investigate suspected or incidents of child abuse. |
